Weeks 1–2
Pain
Calm the headache down.
Hands-on release of the tight muscles at your neck and upper back takes the tension out of the headache, starting your very first visit.
What We Treat
The stiffness when you stand up from the couch. The twinge that decides whether today’s a good day. It’s fixable, and it starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a guess.

Why It Happens
Your neck doesn’t lock up for no reason. Hours of looking down at a phone or a laptop pull your head forward, and your neck has to hold that weight all day. The muscles across your upper back and the base of your skull tighten up trying to compensate. Stress piles on more guarding. And the joints in your neck, when they get irritated, can refer pain straight into your head: that’s a cervicogenic headache, not a mystery migraine.
None of that gets sorted out with a heating pad or a few stretches you found online. It takes a real, cause-first evaluation to find which structures are actually driving your headaches, whether it’s posture, joint stiffness, muscle tension, or some mix of the three. Find the real cause, and the fix gets obvious.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like for neck pain and headaches.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on release of the tight muscles at your neck and upper back takes the tension out of the headache, starting your very first visit.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Targeted mobility work restores rotation and posture in the neck segments that have been quietly guarding the tension.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Progressive neck and upper-back strengthening builds the endurance to sit at a desk, drive, or train without the tension creeping back in.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Posture and workstation strategy get built into your routine so the tension doesn’t come back: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.
I went to see Dr. Brad Conder for some help with neck pain I had been experiencing. After about 15 minutes of Q&A he was able to pinpoint what the issue was and was immediately able to start treating my pain. He was also very helpful in educating me on the “why.” I really appreciate him taking the time to help me understand, because it gives you comfort in knowing why, so maybe you can prevent any future injuries.

Usually, it’s not. Most recurring headaches tied to neck pain are coming from tight muscles and stiff joints in your neck, not something more serious. A cause-first evaluation is how we tell the difference: we check your neck’s movement, your posture, and where the pain actually refers from before we ever start treating it. If anything about your headaches looks outside that pattern, sudden onset, vision changes, or the worst headache of your life, that’s a sign to seek urgent care right away, and we’ll tell you so.
Yes, you don’t need to quit your job or ditch your phone. The screens aren’t the enemy, the unbroken posture is. A Doctor of PT can show you specific adjustments to how you sit and hold your phone, plus simple resets to work into your day, so your neck stops absorbing all that load. You’ll keep working the same way, just without paying for it in headaches.
Most patients feel meaningful change within 4–6 visits. A full plan for neck pain and headaches runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, typically over 8–10 weeks, depending on how long you’ve been dealing with it. Either way, you get a plan with an endpoint: you’ll always know which phase you’re in and what’s left, not an open-ended string of appointments.
