We’ve all been in the position before: we hurt ourselves or have been experiencing chronic pain, and we blow it off. “It’ll go away on its own, it’s not bad enough for a doctor visit, it’s not a big deal.” It’s really too bad that this attitude has become the norm when dealing with pain. It is the unfortunate decision to “wait it out” that leads so many down an escalated and painful road. Although it can feel like it with all of the work we put in to keeping our bodies healthy, we’re not superheroes. Even the most well oiled and cared for machines need maintenance from time to time. Waiting out a physical issue not only leads to discomfort, but it can escalate a problem much further than it otherwise would’ve gotten to.
We often see individuals who have put off addressing their pain for so long that it’s become normal – just a side effect of working out. Don’t let yourself fall into this trap! Being active does NOT mean you have to be in constant pain. It is too often believed that chronic pain and exercise go together.
